8 QUICK TIPS TO REVAMP YOUR SPACE DURING THIS CORONA LOCKDOWN

If you've never really prioritised on the interior of your home because you were so busy with work and life out there (rarely staying home for more than 8hours a day), now you are gonna be stuck indoors for the next 14 days and you're gonna hate it!

Personally, I've been self isolating for the past 7 days and I am already feeling cooked up and trust me, I have a cozy home...

So in other to create a more refreshing and comfortable space during this lockdown, here are some DIY TIPS that you could use to spruce up your home.

1. Rearrange the Furniture.

Whether you live in a studio flat or a mansion, you are gonna get bored of your daily routine and environment for these coming days. Moving furniture around, to create new layouts/settings could help freshen up your space and improve your mood.
You could try with the main furnishing of the space (eg Sofas for living room, beds for bedroom etc) and if you want to go all out you could even reposition TV as well as other decor pieces and accessories.
If you are working from home you might want to set up a mini office area (if you don't already have a home office, do follow this link https://mdadatelier.blogspot.com/2016/06/tips-to-make-working-from-home-more.html to learn how to be productive working from home).

2. Swap Pillow covers, curtains etc.

If you've got spare throw pillows/covers or spare curtains, now is the time to bring them out and swap!
You could also swap area rugs between spaces (eg, bring out the rug in the bedroom and replace with that in the living room etc)
And because most of us would be lazying on the bed all day, please do not forget to change your sheets as often as needed!

3. Add colour with lighting.

Colour does affect our moods and emotions and now is the time to get in the right frame of mind. You probably wouldn't be able to get a new coat of paint up on the walls but you could add colour with lighting! (light bulb moment there :))
Get different colours of light bulbs and experiment until you get the perfect colour to suit your mood.

4.Bring in the outdoors.

If you live in an apartment like most city dwellers, you'd probably be indoors most of the time (no backyard or garden for relaxation). Running the Air Conditioner all day will be detrimental to your health, it is important to open up the windows to let fresh air in and if you have a nice plant sitting on the balcony, bring that into your space too. This will help in filtering the air indoors and add colour to your room. And if its a flowering plant, the scent would improve the smell of your space. Be sure to place it close to daylight and remember to water it often so it doesn't wilt.

5. Create a feature wall with things that matter!

One of the good thing about the lockdown is having time to focus on things that really matter. Top on this list should be people; Family and friends! Bring out your old album or photo collection and pin up those memories of people in your life. This will help you focus and if you are alone, it will remind you that you that though you are temporarily away from your loved ones, they are close to you in your heart. You could also use the opportunity to pin up a vision board for your relationship and your life in general!

6. Get Crafty.

With lots of time on your hands it'd be a good idea to be creative. You could try out painting or making DIY decor pieces, whatever you choose to do will reveal how handy you are and you'd be surprise to discover your hidden talents. After the lockdown is over, you might be starting a side business that could earn you extra cash.

7.DeClutter and re-organise.

By the end of the 1st week of the lockdown, you would probably be itching to do some manual/physical activity. Decluttering should be your mission. Start with a book shelf, a cupboard and gradually move to the WARDROBE! There you will realise you have been holding on to things you don't need and could free up up space for the shopping spree once this ordeal is over! (high five)

8. Deep clean your home.

This is probably the most important TIP as keeping a clean germ free home will help in the fight against COVID19. Read up online on how to go about this (also follow @madiyaclean on instagram for guide on keeping a clean environment).

Hope you find these TIPs helpful and that you've resolved to prioritise the interior of your home once this lockdown is over. we will be more than willing to offer you professional help if needed.
